We are Printed By us

We run screen printing workshops for homeless and vulnerable people in Sheffield who want to learn new skills and move forward.

We hand screen print artwork. We sell the prints. We run more workshops.

We hand screen print artwork.

We run workshops to teach vulnerable people the craft of hand screen printing. We then print small batches of unique artwork designed by some of Sheffield's finest creatives. Each print is hand-signed by both the artist and the screen printer.

We sell the prints.

We then sell these exclusive prints via our online shop, and we also stock a handful of Sheffield boutiques.

We run more workshops.

All the profits made from selling the prints go back into running more screen printing workshops and developing the project.

Why we do what we do

Homelessness is a complex issue and everybody's story is different.

We believe there is hope and a way forward for every person. We also believe that creativity, enterprise and the people of Sheffield all have their part to play.

We want to give opportunities for vulnerable people to learn new skills, build confidence and move forward towards fulfilling lives.

Printed By us has a positive impact on the health and wellbeing for those involved, and is directed and run by people who have overcome challenging circumstances themselves.

How does it work?

Printed By us is micro enterprise as part of Just Works.

Just Works aims to support people as they overcome obstacles in their lives using a combination of education, training and health & wellbeing  tailored around individual needs. Their programme involves a graduated exposure to work through engagement with our local business partners. Just Works is for people who are making some positive steps towards their own recovery.

Just Works is a Cathedral Archer Project initiative. Cathedral Archer project have been working with homeless and vulnerable people in Sheffield for over 30 years now and provide crisis support and hot meals to 30 - 50 people every day.

Printed By us is for people who are part of Just Works or Cathedral Archer Project services. It's for anyone who want to learn new skills and gain work experience in a variety of roles including; screen printing, business administration, marketing, order-fulfilment and customer service.

Our hope is that for the people involved; Printed By us is a great step towards building confidence and moving forward towards fulfilled lives, once aspect of which being long-term employment with other Sheffield businesses.

We have no idea what we are doing

Printed By us is a pilot project but the goal is for it to become self-sustaining so that we can pay the people involved in running it as soon as possible.

We need you!

We need the good people of Sheffield to get behind our project and support our desire to bring positive change to the lives of homeless and vulnerable people. We're all about giving opportunities and encouraging people who want to move forward.

Who is behind this?

Printed By Us started life at Yoomee, a Digital Agency based in Sheffield which uses technology for social good. Yoomee helps local and national charities and nonprofits use digital innovation to build new online services.

Life at Yoomee involves Investment Time which encourages team members to work on their own ideas and internal projects for social good.

Printed By Us is an Investment Time idea that has become a reality in partnership with the Cathedral Archer Project. You can read more about the idea to reality journey in this blog post.

Freelance graphic designer & doer Mark Musgrave developed the Printed By us idea with colleagues during his time working for Yoomee. He has taken the idea forward through a series of co-creation workshops involving Cathedral Archer Project service users and helps to run Printed By us with people who have overcome challenging circumstances themselves.
